Back to School pictures

My friend Sandra who does photography in Rockwall invited me to come down and do team shooting for an afternoon of back-to-school sessions. Our first subjects were these two cute kids. The little girl was so easy to work with but her brother was another story. He refused to smile or cooperate for most of the session and it was HOT out so we were all kind of miserable. I finally got him to cheer up by looking for bugs together in the grass and throwing stuff in the pond together so I was able to get a couple smiles. Good enough!

I'll post stuff from the other sessions we did as I get it edited.

Natural light indoors

Right not we are experiencing our 54th day of over 100* weather here in TX! Yuck. Although I prefer shooting outdoors, it's just too dang hot right now. I've been experimenting with using natural light indoors for portraits. I always wish for more cooperative subjects (do your kids hold still for pictures?) but I was able to get a few that I really liked using available light indoors.

Trying new cameras

Thanks to my old camera breaking...dropped...by me :( I had to borrow my friend's Nikon for a photo shoot a few weeks ago. Anxious since it was a new camera for me, I asked my somewhat less-than-willing children to sit in as my subjects for an impromptu session. I got confident using my friend's camera AND some great shots of my girls. The happy ending to the sadness of my camera breaking is that I convinced my hubbie to sign off on the purchase of a great new camera-a Canon 60D. It came today- so excited! Sadly, the lenses won't be here until Saturday-hopefully in time for a family photo shoot with some good friends!

I love photography! For years I've been captivated by the beauty in nature that can be captured in a single frame. In our early marriage we had the chance to live all over the country and I loved to photograph the details large and small that defined the area we lived in. Now, as my family grows, I've added family photography to my hobbies- I love capturing the love and joy that defines a happy family.
