Texas Bluebonnets

I had a great session with this adorable little girl this morning. The bluebonnets are in full bloom and it is Texas tradition to get pictures with them. I was glad we did this in the morning- by the afternoon it was 85* and humid!

Little ones!

I've had the chance to do a couple toddler sessions lately. They're fun but they can be challenging. With both these sessions, things started off a little rough- the girls weren't sure who this crazy lady was and it was hard to get smiles. I always try to plan for plenty of time in a session with babies and young kids, so we took it easy, and had some fun with sticks and leaves- every child loves playing with those. By the end of the session we got some great pictures and everyone was happy.

I've also been doing my sessions in RAW- my friend convinced me that it was time to switch and I love it! It is a little challenging since I have to convert files a couple times to do my editing, but it's totally worth it for the added control over the finished product.

Back to School pictures

My friend Sandra who does photography in Rockwall invited me to come down and do team shooting for an afternoon of back-to-school sessions. Our first subjects were these two cute kids. The little girl was so easy to work with but her brother was another story. He refused to smile or cooperate for most of the session and it was HOT out so we were all kind of miserable. I finally got him to cheer up by looking for bugs together in the grass and throwing stuff in the pond together so I was able to get a couple smiles. Good enough!

Natural light indoors

Right not we are experiencing our 54th day of over 100* weather here in TX! Yuck. Although I prefer shooting outdoors, it's just too dang hot right now. I've been experimenting with using natural light indoors for portraits. I always wish for more cooperative subjects (do your kids hold still for pictures?) but I was able to get a few that I really liked using available light indoors.
